Wayne Ducheneaux II is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and grew up on his family ranch on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation. His work at home for the Tribe included running a tribal enterprise, the Cheyenne River Motel, spending two years as Tribal Administrative Officer and serving the people of Cheyenne River after being elected as District 4 Council Representative. In his time on the Council, he was selected for a two-year term as Vice-Chairman of the Tribe from 2012 to 2014. Wayne now works as the Executive Director for the Native Governance Center. The Native Governance Center is a non-profit organization created to carry out the work the Bush Foundation began in 2009 helping tribal nations within the footprint of North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota to improve their governance structures to exercise their sovereignty.
