Jennifer Weir is the artistic director of Mu Daiko. She is one of the original members of Mu Daiko, founded in 1997 by Rick Shiomi. She has been passionately studying, performing, teaching, and composing taiko for the past two decades. She recently premiered five new compositions or arrangements at Mu Daiko’s “Inside the Beat” concert in November 2014, and was a recent recipient of the American Composers Forum's Live Music for Dance MN grant. In the past, she has collaborated with Joe Chvala, One Voice Mixed Choir, Ragamala Dance and Theater, and SPCO. She is also a theater director and dramaturg with Mu Performing Arts and a past recipient of grants from the MN State Arts Board, MN Regional Arts Board, Arts International, American Composers Forum, and Jerome MN Travel Grant.
